Creatures and fantasy characters make up a majority of the highest-grossing films, tv-series and video games of all time, yet there isn’t enough training available to teach actors/performers how to embody these types of characters. Creature Bionics provides various workshops and bespoke training programmes to help prepare actors/performers for these specific roles.
Our programmes/workshops are suitable for actors/performers of all levels. They are also course friendly for animators who design locomotion or create their own reference material or want to have more of an insight into the performance process.
Designed for establishments who want their students or employees to learn more about video game acting. The session will consist of participants developing a creature character and creating locomotion that are required for video game purposes, known as video game mechanics.
ACTING FOR ANIMATION
Details: August 13th - 20th
The arm extensions enable an actor/performer to create quadruped movement similar to an ape or a big cat. The workshop will teach participants how to use the arm extensions safely and productively. Once the participants have learned how to use the rigs, the session will move on to creature character development. Participants will have to create their own locomotion following the rules of video game mechanics.
The workshop is an 8-day course where participants will be loaned the arm extensions for 6 days to take home to practice before returning to the final session.
In a partnership with Performance Captured Academy, the programme runs over the course of 8 days. Day 1 focuses on the participants learning how to use the arm extensions to create locomotion. For the following 6 days, participants are given the arm extensions to take home to continue their training to perfect the locomotion they created. On day 8 (final day), participants will perform their work inside a motion capture studio under a professional setup required for a video game production.
THE MOCAP QUADRUPED LOCOMOTION COURSE
Using our Xsens Linked System, we offer private mocap training for performers who want a more imitate setting for learning and want to collect and own their own data.
The training will consist of learning and developing locomotion by following the rules of video game mechanics. Performers will then have the opportunity to record their performance and received the mocap data, which can be used for showreel or commercial purposes.
